What is a personalized comic book for mom?

A personalized comic book for mom is a comic in which your mother is the lead: drawn from her photo, called by her name, living a story you choose. In most family stories she’s the one who packs the snacks, finds the keys and remembers the birthdays. This comic puts her in the middle of the page instead.

It’s a digital gift. Comicpix shows you the cover first, free; a monthly plan unlocks the full comic, which is drawn page by page after you unlock it. You can read it online together or download the PDF and send it to her, wherever she lives. Nothing is printed or shipped.

Making one for your dad as well? The personalized comic book for dad page has stories built around him. For anyone else, start from the personalized comic book hub.

Which kind of mom is she?

Each card opens a real Comicpix comic with a single lead; make one like it with her photo.

  • The book lover“The Lantern Fox”: a second-hand book stall at closing time, a paper lantern that turns into a fox, and shadows that settle down to hear a good story.See “The Lantern Fox”
  • The one who solves everything“The Midnight Case”: a detective who never forgets a face. Good for a mom who always knows who ate the last cookie.See “The Midnight Case”
  • The adventurer“The Ember Crown”: a reluctant apprentice, the last dragon and a stolen crown, in the manhua style.See “The Ember Crown”
  • The pet person“The Sock Bandit”: her dog or cat as the hero, with her as the second character if she likes.See “The Sock Bandit”

Story ideas for your mom

Start from something true about her and push it one step into adventure. A few sentences in the Story step are enough; the comic is written around them.

Her job, as an adventure

The nurse who keeps the whole ward calm through a storm. The teacher whose class gets lost on a school trip and she finds every one of them. The shop owner who outsmarts the city’s most stubborn customer. Name the real place and one real detail, like her lanyard or the mug on her desk.

The story she always tells

Every mom has one: the year she moved to a new country with one suitcase, the night she drove through a snowstorm, the time she met a famous chef by accident. Retell it with her as the hero and keep the punchline she always uses.

Her hobby, at full scale

If she gardens, the garden becomes a kingdom she protects. If she reads, give her a library book that rewrites itself around the reader, one of the starters in “The Lantern Fox”. If she bakes, a city-wide cake contest is hers to win.

For Mother’s Day, her birthday, or no reason

For Mother’s Day, collect one memory from each sibling and write them into the story, so the comic says what the whole family would say. For her birthday, our birthday comic book page has party-shaped plots, including one where the guest of honor ends up with the crown.

It also works as a family gift at the end of the year: the Christmas comic book gift page covers digital gifting when there’s no time left for shipping.

A comic can star two characters, so a grandchild can join her as the second character. Comicpix accounts are for adults (18+); if you add a child’s photo, you must have the authority to share it.

Questions about a comic for mom

Which photo of my mom should I use?

One photo with only her in it: facing the camera, head and shoulders in view, in good, even light, without sunglasses or filters. If she’d rather not be uploaded, pick a ready-made character and type her name.

She’s never read a comic. Which style should I pick?

Choose one that reads like an illustrated book: comic, cartoon or romance are easy places to start. The cover preview is free, so you can try a style before you decide.

Can I write her real story?

Yes. Write a few sentences in the Story step: the place, what happened and how she handled it. You don’t need to write dialogue or draw anything.

Can a grandchild be in her comic?

Yes, as the second character. A comic can star two characters, each from one photo of a person or pet, or a ready-made character.

How do I give it to her?

Download the PDF and send it, or open the comic with her online. Your comics stay in your library, so you choose when she sees it.

Is it free?

The cover preview is free; the full comic needs a monthly plan, and you can cancel online.
