Your child, the hero of their own comic book

A parent uploads one photo of their child, types the child’s name and picks a story, and Comicpix draws a comic with the child as the hero. Start with “The Birthday Cape”, a superhero story for a kid; the cover is drawn in about a minute and the preview is free.

Can I make a comic book starring my child?

Yes. A personalized comic book for kids is made by a parent or another adult: Comicpix accounts are for adults (18+), and children never have accounts. You add one photo of your child and their name, choose a story, and the comic is drawn with your child as the main character. If you submit a child’s photo, you must have the authority and permissions necessary to do so.

Your child’s photo is private: it is used only to draw the comic and is deleted after 7 days, or after 30 days if you unlock the comic. If you’d rather not upload a photo at all, pick a ready-made character and type your child’s name; ready-made characters are AI-generated, not real children.

The cover is drawn first and the preview is free. A monthly plan unlocks the full comic, drawn page by page; read it together online or download the PDF. It’s a digital comic, so nothing is printed or shipped.

Start from a ready story

“The Birthday Cape” is the ready story for a child: open it, add your kid’s photo and name, and the same story is drawn with them. “The Sock Bandit” is the one to open if the family pet should be the hero.

What happens in “The Birthday Cape”

On the morning of your child’s birthday, a glowing cape arrives in a box with no return address. After some wobbly first flights in the backyard, a storm knocks out every light in the city. Your child flies out, rescues a stuck kitten, guides a bus of kids home through the rain and restarts the lights at the old power tower with courage and a clever idea. On the last page, the city lights spell “Happy Birthday” with your child’s name, and the family celebrates on the rooftop.

It’s drawn in the superhero style. Comicpix’s superhero style is instructed to draw your child as an original hero in an original costume; existing suits, logos and emblems are excluded from the style brief, so it won’t be a famous character.

Other stories for the same cape

Inside “The Birthday Cape” you can swap the plot for one of its other starters: super speed on the morning of the school race, a sudden talent for talking to animals when the zoo needs help, toys that come alive and need a leader for one wild night, or a secret mission to fix the moon. Or write your own few sentences: the classroom hamster that escapes, the lost tooth that turns into a treasure hunt.

“Pumpkin Patrol”: when the family cat is the hero

A comic-style story from the Comicpix app: an orange cat in a pumpkin costume walks a lost kitten home and saves the candy bowl from a raccoon. If your child wants their pet to be the star, make one like it from the pet’s photo.

How to make your child’s comic

  1. Open “The Birthday Cape”, or start your own

The ready story is a superhero adventure. For another style or your own plot, start a new comic and choose the style first.

  2. Add one photo and their name

Face to the camera, head and shoulders in view, good light, only your child in the picture. Or pick a ready-made character.

  3. Check the cover

The cover is drawn in about a minute and the preview is free, so you can show it to your child before you decide.

  4. Unlock and read it together

A monthly plan unlocks the full comic. The pages are drawn one by one and you can read each as it arrives, online or as a PDF.

Siblings, birthdays and other grown-ups

A comic can star two characters, so two siblings, or a child and the family dog, can share the lead. “The Birthday Cape” has one hero; for two, start your own comic and add the second character in the Cast step.

Birthdays are the most common reason to make one, and the cape story is built for that day. For an adult’s birthday instead, see the birthday comic book page. If the kids want to give Dad a comic where he is the hero, an adult makes it on the personalized comic book for dad page.

For a holiday present, the Christmas comic book gift page covers story ideas and giving a digital comic on the day.

What happens to my child’s photo?

It is private, used only to draw the comic, and deleted after 7 days, or after 30 days if you unlock the comic. If you’d rather not upload one, a ready-made character can stand in with your child’s name.

Can my kid be their favorite superhero?

No. Comicpix’s superhero style is instructed to draw an original hero in an original costume, and existing suits, logos and emblems are excluded from the style brief. Your child gets a hero of their own.
