Pumpkin guards the candy bowl on the porch at number 6. A lost grey kitten hides under the bench, and a raccoon decides one piece won’t be missed.
The kitten’s collar tag says 8 — the house across the street. Pumpkin leaves the post to walk it home, and the raccoon goes for the whole bowl.
Halfway across, the raccoon tiptoes past with the bowl. One heroic “WOOF!” from a cat, and the candy goes everywhere.
At number 8 the kitten is home with a happy purr, the raccoon admits he should have asked, and the porch guard gets the biggest treat on the block.
